Urmston friendship, your questions

When is Urmston Artisan Market held?

Urmston Artisan Market, run by The Market Co, takes over the Golden Hill car park off Park Road North from 10am to 4pm on the first Saturday of every month. About 100 traders take part, and meeting a friend there each month quickly becomes an Urmston habit.

What is Davyhulme Park like?

Davyhulme Park on Crofts Bank Road earned a 2026 Green Flag award; it offers ponds, a rose garden, a sensory garden, bowls and tennis, plus a skate park with a memorial to the Manchester Arena attack. The Friends of Davyhulme Park welcome Urmston volunteers.

Where can you run on a Saturday in Urmston?

Kingsway Park parkrun takes place in Kingsway Park, Urmston, at 9am every Saturday, roughly a kilometre from the town centre. Walkers take part too, so it is a straightforward weekly meeting point for Urmston friends who like to start the weekend outdoors.

Settled in Urmston but short of friends?

Gofrendly, a women-only friendship app, helps Urmston women spot others who live close by and propose meeting up. A walk round the ponds in Davyhulme Park or a browse at the monthly artisan market makes a light first plan for two neighbours.

Urmston, a Trafford suburb with a village feel

Urmston lies in the west of Trafford, close to the Mersey, taking in Flixton and Davyhulme, with a compact shopping centre around Station Road. In its four wards, owner-occupiers account for about 77% of households and over-65s for 21% of residents, each above the North West averages of 62% and 19%. Joining a weekly group that is already up and running, and simply turning up each time, is a reliable way to settle in.

Once the children have grown up or work has wound down, even a settled suburb can feel lonely. Urmston Library hosts a weekly coffee morning and a community jewellery-making group, Golden Hill Park has an ornamental walled garden and its own Friends group, and Flixton Gardens is another 2026 Green Flag site nearby. Trafford Council says the market attracts up to 5,000 visitors, so it is a lively monthly fixture for a first meet-up. Places to try:
