Which parkrun is closest to Denton?
Denton does not have a parkrun. The closest is Hyde parkrun in Hyde Park on Park Road, a few kilometres east, from 9am each Saturday. The course is three laps with a café by the entrance, and Denton walkers are welcome to take part.
When is Denton Library staffed?
Denton Library is inside the town hall on Market Street. Staff are there on Monday and Thursday afternoons, Friday mornings and Saturdays, and members can use Open+ self-service access on weekdays until 8pm, which gives Denton residents a quiet place to meet.

Denton, a settled town in Tameside
Denton lies on the western edge of Tameside, with its town hall on Market Street and Victoria Park at the centre, made a park in 1913 on land bought in 1886. In the three Denton wards, some 66% of homes are owned by the families in residence and only around 15% are private rentals, below the North West. In a town where so many homes are owner-occupied, it is worth seeking out groups where new people are expected and welcomed.
Long-settled streets can be lonely if your own family lives far away. Victoria Park has a Grade II listed bandstand, the 1921 war memorial and the largest flower bed in Tameside, and its Friends group welcomes new members. Denton Library in the town hall is open on a self-service basis on weekdays, with staffed afternoons on Mondays and Thursdays.
