Worcester is a cathedral city beside the Severn, and its twice-weekly market moved to the Corn Market in September 2026 under a new operator. Across the city private renting accounts for 21% of households and some 14% are unmarried couples, slightly higher than the West Midlands in each case. Arriving for work, study or a partner, you will find a fixed session each week is the quickest way to start recognising faces.
Renting somewhere new can be lonely, and Worcester has plenty of shared places. Gheluvelt, Cripplegate, Fort Royal and Riverside parks all hold 2026 Green Flags, two parkruns run every Saturday at Pitchcroft and Worcester Woods, and Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Bilford Road offers two pools, a sports hall and the Freedom Café. The Scala arts centre in Angel Place is due to open in summer 2027. The Commandery and the City Art Gallery and Museum add more to explore. Where to begin in Worcester:
