Trowbridge is Wiltshire’s county town, built on West of England cloth, and its old Home Mills now houses the town museum. Across seven town wards, 25 to 44 year olds account for about 27% of residents, while lone parents, with children of any age, head roughly 11% of households, each above the South West share. With jobs, nurseries and school runs to fit in, one dependable weekly slot makes it far easier for new friendships to grow, and Biss Meadows Country Park is close by for a walking catch-up.
New estates can feel lonely until you know a few names. Trowbridge Library is in County Hall on Bythesea Road, Wiltshire Council’s new leisure centre next door is due to open by the end of 2026 with a six-lane pool, and the free museum sits in the Shires. Southwick Country Park has a tea room near the parkrun finish. Places to begin in town:
