Newbury has a new café in Victoria Park
The new community café in Victoria Park is a pleasant place to make friends in Newbury. The same park now hosts its own Saturday parkrun, the charter market comes to the centre every Thursday and Saturday morning, and West Berkshire Museum on The Wharf opens five days a week without an admission fee. Newbury Market, run by Newbury Town Council, is held on Thursdays and Saturdays, 9am to 4pm, in the centre of Newbury. The town council says a market has probably been held in Newbury since Anglo-Saxon times, and browsing it weekly means meeting the same faces.
Does Newbury have more than one parkrun?
Newbury now has two Saturday parkruns at 9am: Greenham Common parkrun on the open common south-east of the town, and Victoria Park parkrun, which started in 2026 in the town-centre park. Both welcome walkers and volunteers, and returning weekly is how regulars in Newbury become friends.
