Eden Project Morecambe broke ground at a ceremony in June 2026, with groundworks from August. Its Bring Me Sunshine Garden is due to open in spring 2027, and the full attraction is expected in winter 2028, so Morecambe residents can follow the build along the seafront.

Morecambe, a seaside resort on the bay

Morecambe faces the wide bay, with Eric Morecambe’s statue on the promenade, unveiled in 1999. Eden Project Morecambe broke ground in June 2026, with its first garden due in spring 2027. In five wards, almost 37% of homes house one person on their own and fewer are socially rented than across the region. Some residents have retired here or come for the coast, so plenty of neighbours may have time for a stroll and a cuppa on the front, whatever the weather.

An empty promenade in winter can feel lonely. At The Platform, a Friends social has met at 1pm on the first Wednesday of recent months, with free tea, coffee and local musicians, and Happy Mount Park and Regent Park both made the 2026 Green Flag list. Morecambe Library on Central Drive opens until 7pm on Tuesdays, and Salt Ayre Leisure Centre in Lancaster has a 33-metre pool. Easy places to start:

1
The Platform, Old Station Building, Marine Road Central.
2
The Festival Market on Central Drive.
3
Happy Mount Park, with soft play, a café and a summer splash park.
4
Regent Park, a second Green Flag park in the town.
5
Morecambe Library on Central Drive.
