Hallé St Peter’s is the Hallé orchestra’s rehearsal and recording centre, set in a restored Grade II listed church on Blossom Street in Ancoats, with the Oglesby Centre extension added in 2019. It hosts education workshops and small performances, and Café Cotton inside is open to the public seven days a week.

Where can I swim near Ancoats?

East Manchester Leisure Centre in Beswick, run by Better, has an eight-lane 25m main pool with a constant 2m depth and a smaller four-lane pool whose floor moves to change the depth. Manchester residents aged 60 or over swim at no cost, and it is a short trip east of Ancoats.

Can renters in Ancoats find friends nearby?

Gofrendly is a women-only friendship app on which Ancoats women can see who else lives around the canal and get in touch by message. With over half of homes in the ward privately rented, many neighbours rent too, so a canal walk or a parkrun makes an easy opening plan.

Who lives in Ancoats, and how friendships form
