Cornwall friendships are built through the seasons
If you want to make friends in Cornwall, look for something that runs every week all year, not only in summer. A winter sea swim in Falmouth, a choir in Truro or a coast path walk from St Ives or Bude keeps bringing familiar people round, and a few weeks of nods soon become plans. It can. Find a swimming group near you that meets at a regular hour. In Cornwall, check tides and lifeguard cover, start with a short dip and stay for the hot drink afterwards, which is often when people get talking.
Cornwall towns are far apart: how can women meet locally?

Cornwall meet-ups: where to go the first time?
Trelissick has woodland paths above the Fal and a café near the house. In Falmouth, the harbourside by the maritime museum has benches and cafés close together. Both Cornwall spots let you keep a first meeting short or stretch it into an afternoon.
Cornwall out of season
Cornwall is a single council area running from Bude and Launceston in the north-east to Penzance and the Lizard in the far west, with Truro, St Austell, Camborne and Redruth, Newquay and Falmouth as the larger towns. The Isles of Scilly have their own council and are not counted here. Towns can be a long way apart, so check bus times and build a social life around the place you already live. Ask whether a club keeps meeting after the summer before you sign up.
Over-65s account for more than a quarter of the population, and divorce is more common than in the South West overall. Starting again after a move, retirement or separation, you may find the quiet months in a small town lonely. Pick something that carries on through winter, such as a gig rowing club, a sea swimming group, a choir or a volunteer shift. Some places to start with:
