Greenock parkrun, on the paved Esplanade a short walk from the shops, drew 141 finishers one October Saturday and is a breezy way to make friends in Greenock. Greenock parkrun runs every Saturday morning along The Esplanade, entirely on paved paths, close to the centre of Greenock. The 577th edition, in mid-October 2026, had 141 finishers and 17 volunteers, and the waterfront route suits walkers as well as runners.
What is at the Waterfront Leisure Complex in Greenock?
The Waterfront Leisure Complex on Custom House Way, run by Inverclyde Leisure, has a leisure pool with a lazy river, wave machine and flumes, a 25-metre pool, a full-size ice rink, a large gym, a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, a Costa café and free parking in Greenock.
Why walk the Greenock Cut?
The Greenock Cut is a walk of about five miles along an aqueduct made in 1827 to bring water power and drinking water to Greenock. Inverclyde Council took over the Cut and its visitor centre in 2021 and upgraded the centre with toilets, a classroom, picnic tables and signage.
