If a job has brought you to Central Sheffield in your 40s, the trick is to find activities that draw people your age into a centre full of students. Sheffield Cathedral on Church Street recruits volunteers for regular shifts, the Showroom Cinema runs evening film studies lectures, and The Foundry climbing centre, just north of the centre, runs beginner courses.
