Make Friends in Llandudno, from the prom to the pool

Over-65s form a larger part of Llandudno than of the country as a whole, and almost four homes in ten hold one person alone.

Llandudno friendships need a fixed day

To make friends in Llandudno, choose one weekly habit and let people get used to seeing you. Llandudno Swimming Centre on Mostyn Broadway opens at 6am on weekdays, Llandudno Library on Mostyn Street has a reading group on Wednesdays at 2pm, and Venue Cymru on the Promenade is the town’s theatre. On Saturday mornings the nearest parkruns are along the Conwy Cob and on the seafront at Rhos-on-Sea. Gofrendly is where you might find a Llandudno woman keen to come too.

What time does the swimming centre in Llandudno open?

Llandudno Swimming Centre on Mostyn Broadway, run by Ffit Conwy, opens 6am–9pm Monday to Thursday, 6am–8pm on Friday and 8am–4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Besides the eight-lane 25m main pool there is a 20m four-lane training pool, a gym and pool-based fitness classes.

Which parkrun is handiest for Llandudno?

Llandudno itself does not host a parkrun. Conwy parkrun starts at the RSPB end of the path by the Conwy Cob in Llandudno Junction, roughly five kilometres away, and Y Promenâd parkrun follows the seafront at Rhos-on-Sea. Both start on Saturday mornings.

How long is the pier in Llandudno?

Llandudno Pier is about 700 metres long, which makes it the longest pier in Wales. Work began in 1876 and finished in 1878; it was repaired after storm damage in December 2024 and was named Pier of the Year 2025 by the National Piers Society, a title it also won in 2005.

Where can women find friends in Llandudno?

Gofrendly, the women-only friendship app, shows Llandudno women who live nearby, and you are welcome to write first. Suggest something easy with a set start time, such as a morning swim on Mostyn Broadway or the Saturday parkrun along the Cob, and the first meeting has a shape.

Llandudno friendships, season by season

On the census figures, Llandudno is older than most of Wales. Close to 30% of the town has turned 65, and nearly four households in ten are one person, so if you have free daytime hours and nobody to share them with, the figures suggest you have plenty of company in that. Life alone beside the bay can turn lonely once the summer visitors leave, so a standing weekday plan beats the odd big night out, and is far easier to stick to.

Llandudno Pier, built in 1878 and still the longest in Wales at about 700 metres, was named Pier of the Year 2025 by the National Piers Society. Behind the town centre, the Victorian gardens of Happy Valley have a rockery and a restored camera obscura, and the Great Orme Country Park has waymarked trails across the headland. The swimming centre’s 25m main pool has eight lanes and, like the 20m training pool, a movable floor. Here are a few good ways in:

1
The Wednesday afternoon reading group at Llandudno Library.
2
A morning lane swim on Mostyn Broadway.
3
A walk to the end of the pier and back.
4
Conwy parkrun along the Cob on a Saturday.
5
The waymarked trails of the Great Orme Country Park.
LOCAL TIP
Walk the promenade at the same hour each day and the faces you nod to in October will be the ones you stop for in December.
